More Hiking in the Kootenays

Today we visited Bear Lake. It's pretty amazing in the Kootenays right now.

Going around the lake.

On the way up to the pass above the lake.

Looking back down on the lake.

Suzanne heading down.

My assistant was getting pretty tired of the photo taking. Wicked hat eh?

Hiking - Kootenays

We're back in the Kootenays this week to visit with some friends and do some hiking. At this time of the year the Larch colors are peaking and the temperatures are usually ideal for hiking. Here are few from the other day with Karl, Jo and my Dad. Probably more to come this week.

Wedding - Katie and David

I probably checked the weather forecast a hundred times last week. I had been looking forward to this wedding at Nakoda Lodge for a long time. Two great people in probably one of the most amazing settings around Calgary during the prime of fall. Needless to say, the forecast for a high of 3 Celsius and rain wasn't making me a happy camper. It's funny how things work out. All the worrying ended up producing a half foot of snow and a really dramatic landscape. Sweet! Now all I have to do is convince the bride to take her silk dress out before the ceremony and run around in the rain/snow. I am so grateful of Katie's attitude, she is amazing, such a good sport and I think the images we created for you should be a pretty good reward. Here are some teasers.

The view from Nakoda Lodge

David and the guys about to see Katie in her dress for the first time.

Ooooh, the irony. These two were definitely hot!

I love these "stalker" shots, but feel kind of creepy when I'm taking them.

Thankfully the ceremony was inside, infront of the fire.

Wedding - Andrea and Brent

I busted a gut with these guys on Saturday. The first thing I saw when I walked in the door of the guys room at the Palliser was this.

It was 11am, but it was also a wedding, and the groom was Scottish, so the drinking and groomsmen in good old "gonch" (I didn't know people still wore those) seemed to fit the bill.

More of the guys getting ready.

The ceremony was in the Alberta Room at the Palliser. This is Andrea during the vows.

Wedding - Kim and Kevin

I spent the Labour Day weekend in Kelowna photographing Kim and Kevin's wedding. It was an all weekend event and from what I overheard their friends and family in attendance saying, it was the highlight of many people's summer. These two are surrounded by amazing families and friends. A big thanks to Kevin's father Ken for picking me up at the airport and providing me with a car for the weekend.

Picking "just a few" images from this wedding to put on the blog was not an easy task. There are so many good ones, I had to skip over all of the photos from the Saturday and get right to the wedding (on Sunday).

Both the guys and girls got ready at the Hotel Eldorado on Lake Okanagan. It's funny going from the girls to the guys. The girls help each other out, doing each other's make up, helping with the dress, etc. Here Kevin is struggling with his tie and the best man is...

Kim looked amazing.

In the hotel room just before leaving.

The ceremony was at the Cedar Creek Estate Winery, above the lake.

There were lots of great candids from the two days, but I really liked this one of Kim and her dad after the ceremony.

I am pretty sure this guys mom told him he was only allowed one of the Crave cupcakes brought in from Calgary.

After the wine and cheese, Kim and Kevin gave me a few hours of their time to take some photos with just the two of them. The light was really interesting from the forest fires near Hope.

A big thanks to the owner of this barn in Kelowna.

The reception was back at the Elderado.

The couple's reaction to a great slide show put together by Kim's mom.
