In a former life I spent all kinds of time and tuition studying geography and remote sensing. It was fun, but photography is where my heart is. Carmen is a geologist, she knows where to find oil, which is really kind of a handy skill. Jim is in Geomatics, long story short, he makes maps for people. So any ways, we weren't about to get lost on Sunday or be left wondering if an outcrop was a carbonate or siliceous sedimentary rock. The two got married in Cochrane at the Ranche and then had their reception at the Wainright Hotel in Herritage Park (Calgary). Great venues.
The girls before the ceremony. They never explained what the pin wheels were about. It got them laughing though, so who cares.
Carmen wanted to incorporate a kerchief from one of her grandparent's into her bouquet, which was designed by Lea Romanowski of Designing on the Edge. I should probably point out that its sitting in a vase.

We got chased by thunder storms all day, it was great!
We finally got caught by the rain at Heritage Park and had to wait it out in the train station. I ended up getting some of my favourite shots of the day in a 8 by 10 room. Funny how that works.

Wedding - Bonnie and Richard
It was fitting that the British Open was on while Bonnie married a Englishman name Richard. I have heard quite a few funny "how we met" stories in my day, but a jewelry salesman fixing a dancer's watch on a cruise ship is right up there. Tears and laughs all day, it was great.

Two Brits and a Canuck.
One of the guys asked a local if we could take a few shots on his land. We paid him in beer, everyone was happy. Earl I think?
It was tough getting Bonnie not to smile, but I think she pulled if off here.
A happy couple at the reception.

E-session Deanna and Geoff
This coming Sunday (2 days from now) I am photographing Carmen and Jim's wedding. On Tuesday night I met Carmen's sister, Deanna, and her fiance Geoff for an engagement photo session. They are both going to be a part of the wedding, so you will likely see more of them on the BLOG next week. Here's a few shots from Tuesday night.

Wedding - Adena and Mike
On Saturday we headed to the south end of Calgary to photograph Adena and Mike getting married at The Ranche Restaurant in Fish Creek Park. These two love Italy and are both avid photographers, so needless to say we have a few things in common. We were having such a good time that we made them late for dinner. Sorry guys, but I think when you see the photos you agree it was worth it!

This is horrible lighting, but I just love the expression on their faces at the end of the ceremony. I bet Mike made this same face on Christmas morning when he was a 5 year old!

Big Elbow - Good Sushi
I took full advantage of a rare Saturday off and did one of my favourite bike rides - the Big Elbow/Little Elbow loop in Kananaskis. Raoul and Paddy joined me and we managed to get through the ride with only one broken chain and one flat. After the ride we went to Globefish Sushi on 14th for a feast. A perfect way to end the day.

Wedding - Tracy and James
Wednesday sounds like a good day for a wedding and it was the day Tracy and James picked for their wedding. Things got a bit steamy in the Devonian Gardens, but it didn't seem to phase the couple who are obviously quite in love with each other. Thanks for introducing me to the Hotel Arts, what a cool place for a reception.
